It is a humbling thing to ask for prayer but it is so amazing when those prayers turn into miracles, this week we experienced that. It has been a couple months of being vulnerable and asking for prayer, it is the only reason I am able to stay strong. But so far we have not seen the miracles that we have hoped for, we needed a miracle.
On Monday morning I reached out to someone, her husband had told us at church the day before if there was anything that they could do to help we were supposed to let them know. I asked her if she would be interested in setting up a focused prayer schedule for us and she agreed. I sent out messages on group chats, both WhatsApp and Signal (if you have not joined those chats and want to, you can always sign up here). She messaged me shortly after I sent it out and said how she was so blessed with how quickly people were responding. This is the message that I sent out.
“Krista has agreed to make a schedule for prayers so if you would like to spend some time in focused prayer for us please send her a message when you would like to pray. She will write your name in a 15min slot this afternoon or tomorrow morning. This focused prayer is specifically that the new test would come in time for Kevin’s blood work appointment at 11:00 tomorrow morning. We are asking for focused prayer from 12-6 this afternoon and at 8-11 tomorrow morning. Please send your name and the 15min slot you would like to take.”
I also had other people message me that they had not sent Krista a message but they were praying for us regardless. Kevin’s brother sent us a special picture of him praying with his two little boys outside as they paused their work to pray for us.
It was shortly after 1:00 Monday afternoon that Kevin messaged me and told me that the package had arrived! Involving others and asking for prayer is SO powerful!
Timeline:

 • Thursday evening we found out Kevin’s Lyme disease test hadn’t arrived at the destination and we would need to completely redo the test (read the blog post Disappointment).
 • That night Kevin booked an appointment for the blood test for the following week for Tuesday at 11am. This was the only appointment available for that week.
 • Friday morning Kevin had contact with his doctor to ship out another test to us. Later she called him from the post office to reconfirm the address and the postal clerk said they didn’t offer overnight express shipping so it would take two days to arrive (Tuesday morning)
 • Kevin was hoping the package would arrive at the Listowel post office in time so that he could pick it up before his test at 11am on Tuesday.
 • Monday morning at 10:30 we invited you to pray with us.
 • Later in the morning he checked the tracking number and it said the package was in Listowel and it was out for delivery!!
 • At around lunch he went to check the mailboxes downstairs to see if they had put the postal slip to pick it up at the post office in our mailbox.
 • He opened our apartment door and there hung the package on the door handle. He couldn’t believe his eyes!!

When we start to get tired of waiting, tired of the trial, and tired of fighting; praying for a miracle, inviting others to pray with you and witnessing it come to pass has a huge effect on your life. This is a small miracle, one that I am sure did not take much effort for God but he came through in a very real way for us. Yes, Kevin is still sick. No, the appointment at the family doctor Tuesday did not go as we planned. Yes, it is frustrating that we have to start all over with Lyme’s testing, but God has proved to us in a very real and tangible way that he does love and care about us and he is going to work all of this out for good.
Miracles have a way of growing your faith and rejuvenating your spirit.
